What does therapy look like?

What happens in our first session?
Our first session will focus on getting to know each other. I will ask questions to understand more about what your goals and needs are for therapy. We will talk about what type of therapy might help. We will go over any questions you have and decide if working together feels like a good fit.

How long does therapy last for?
My goal is to help you feel good without me. For some clients, that can mean working together for 4-6 months while we address depression, anxiety and panic, OCD, or trauma and PTSD. For clients whose goals are working on self-harm or suicidality, emotion dysregulation, fears of abandonment, ongoing relationship concerns, or stress related with identity or systemic harm, our work might last longer. Ultimately, when to end therapy is a decision we make together as you meet your goals.

What are your cancellation policies?
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 24 hours’ notice. Cancellations made within 24 hours of your appointment may incur a cancellation fee.

Do you accept insurance?
I am not currently in network with any insurance companies. However, many insurance companies will still reimburse clients for part of their therapy costs when seeing a provider Out of Network. I am glad to help you learn how to use your Out of Network Benefits.

Are there open Sliding Scale or Community Spots?
Sliding scale (reduced fee) spots are currently open. Community Spots are currently full. Spots open periodically as clients graduate care, so please let me know if you would like to be added to the waitlist. Please see “Session Fees” page for more information.

Letters for Gender-Affirming Care are Free. You do not need to be a current client. Please contact me if you need a letter for hormones or surgery. Please include in your message the date you will need the letter by. I prioritize all such appointments, but if I cannot schedule you in the needed timeframe, I will let you know as soon as possible.
